Blog 16: Advisory Meeting #2

Answer #2:

A coach can best maximize his team's chances of winning a league championship by emphasizing teamwork within his players.

Detail 1: Emphasizing teamwork can cause a coach's team to know how to play better together as a team.
Ex. A team that plays better together will be able to win more basketball games rather than a team who does not like playing together.

Detail 2: Showing teamwork within a team can have players realize that the team goal is bigger than that of the individual's.
Ex. A person's individual goal can be in the way of what the team is trying to do and that can be an obstacle when trying to win basketball games.

Detail 3: Having teamwork within a team can lead to everybody contributing their best ability to the team and contributing in the best way possible.
Ex. A coach may be able to see that all players cannot succeed in every area they play in, so he puts in players that can do well in certain areas (defense, rebounding, shooting, etc.). While doing this, his team is able to work well together and succeed in their certain area.

Blog 15: Independent Component 2 Approval

1.  Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.

I plan to try to help coach a high school basketball team to see what a coach has to do when trying to think of strategies or when being in late game situations so I understand what they have to go through.

2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.

I will use pictures and videos to document what I have been doing for this 30 hours and to show that I am actually doing my 30 hours of work.

3.  And explain how what you will be doing will help you explore your topic in more depth.

I will be exploring what coaches have to do in order to prep their team to win games and to become better as basketball players.

4.  Post a log on the right hand side of your blog near your other logs and call it the independent component 2 log.

Blog 13: Lesson 2 Reflection

Content:

1. Positive Statement

What are you most proud of in your Lesson 2 Presentation and why?

I am most proud of my activity because it is one of the very few that had the audience go outside and do some of the physical work that involves my topic. The audience was able to learn some drills that come with learning the fundamentals of basketball.

2. Questions to Consider
       a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 2 Presentation (self-assessment)?

       AE       P          AP       CR       NC

P

       b.     Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 2 component contract.

I met all the requirements (met talking time, activity time, intro conclusion) and I though that my presentation went well with me knowing what my topic was, knowing how to explaining my answer, having the audience get a visual of what playing basketball is like, and  showing that I am able to present on my topic.

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 2?

Being able to show the audience an answer for my topic.

4.  (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 2?

Get more time for doing my planned activity.

5. Finding Value
What do you think your answer #2 is going to be?

A coach can best maximize his team;s chances of winning a league championship by having good teamwork from his players or having the best coaching strategies for certain situations.

Blog 14: Independent Component 1

LITERAL
(a) “I, Leonardo Larino, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.”
(b) Cite your source regarding who or what article or book helped you complete the independent component.

My most important source in regards to who helped me complete the independent component would go to my mentor and coach, Coach Will. He is the one who guided me through playing basketball at Southlands and was the one that gave most of the new knowledge that I gained about the sport of basketball and coaching basketball.

(c) Provide a digital spreadsheet (aka log of the 30 hours).   Post it next to your mentorship log.

(d) Explanation of what you completed.

The hours I completed show the time I have spent playing basketball for Southlands Christian School. The hours show all the practices and games played that I have attended played to become better as a basketball player. I have seen what kind of experience high school basketball players go through and had a perspective of the duties a coach has with his team.

INTERPRETIVE
Defend your work and explain how the significant parts of your component and how it demonstrates 30 hours of work.   Provide evidence (photos, transcript, art work, videos, etc) of the 30 hours of work.

APPLIED
How did the component help you understand the foundation of your topic better?  Please include specific examples to illustrate how it helped.

This component helped me understand the foundation of my topic by showing me the key factors that make up a good, winning basketball team. I saw how our team was winning many games, which came from having a team with players that know their fundamental skills and that are able to work together with the teamwork that they have. With the teamwork the team had, we were able to win the games that we could.
